What started as a small idea quickly turned into something much bigger: helping travellers experience New Zealand the way it’s meant to be explored- with flexibility, comfort and a sense of freedom.

Our adventure began in 2020 when we bought our first campervan, Bobby, with the intention of renting it out when we weren’t using it ourselves. As New Zealand welcomed tourism back after the quieter years of Covid, the demand for campervans skyrocketed. This rapid growth prompted us to expand our fleet, turning our passion project into a professional business and Camper4Hire was born. In the early days, we listed our campervans mainly on Camplify, but as our business grew, we saw an opportunity to offer a more direct and cost-effective service for both us and our guests.
In 2023, we made the decision to become independent rental operators, allowing you to book your campervan directly with us, cutting out unnecessary commissions and ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish. As our fleet grew, we added new models to cater to different needs. From our five 6-berth campervans to the more compact Billy, a 3-4 berth ideal for smaller groups, and Sunny, a cozy 2-berth perfect for intimate getaways. Our diverse range reflects our commitment to providing the perfect camper for every traveler.
In 2025, as our passion for travel and the road continued to evolve, we decided to embark on a new adventure: expanding to add Christchurch as a branch and adding rental cars into our fleet. To reflect this growth, we launched Nomado in March 2025, a new brand focused on the providing the perfect vehicle for your New Zealand adventure adventure. Though the name has changed, our service remains the same: personal, tailored, and guided by our own love of travel
