Boyes Beach, Lake Ōkareka

Right on the lakefront, great view. Vehicles with purpose built sleeping facilities (eg. motorhome, campervan, caravan, house bus etc) are permitted to park overnight for no more than two consecutive nights for a fee in designated spaces within the existing carpark area. Please note this campsite is not suitable for vehicles over 6 metres in length. 

Trout Pool Reserve, Okere Falls

Vehicles with purpose built sleeping facilities (eg. motorhome, campervan, caravan, house bus etc) are permitted to park overnight for free in designated spaces within the existing carpark area.

Hamurana Reserve, Lake Rotorua

This reserve can be accessed from Hamurana Road. There is limited free overnight parking spaces near the edge of Lake Rotorua. Vehicles with purpose built sleeping facilities (eg. motorhome, campervan, caravan, house bus etc) are permitted to park overnight for free in designated spaces. Toilets are available nearby and the maximum time for overnight parking is two consecutive nights between the hours of 4pm and 9am.

Right in the middle of the town by the lake front, this freedom campsite is perfect to explore the city, however there are only 3 designated spots available, so make sure to arrive early to secure a spot.
